Gift of the Spirit

Posted on February 14, 2021 at 10:05 AM

Dear members and friends of St. Peter's Anglican Church,

The peace of the Lord be always with you.

GIFT OF THE SPIRIT.

If God told you to ask what you would like him to do for you, what would you ask Him to do for you? It could be that some people would ask God to give them a lot of money, power or great name. King Solomon once asked for wisdom.

In 2 Kings 2:1-12, Elisha asked Elijah to give him a double measure of his spirit. "When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, 'Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?' 'Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,' Elisha replied." (2Kings 2:9).

Elijah had the Spirit of God.

The Spirit of God brings order out of creation full of darkness and chaos.

"Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."

Heavenly Father, we beseech you to give us the Holy Spirit to transform us into the likeness of your Son Jesus Christ and to help us to bring order out of our world full of darkness and violence.

Jesus asks: "How much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

May God bless you with your families and friends and protect you with the precious blood of Jesus.
